My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ricardo is an unknown mixed breed, is 2yo, weighs 50lbs, is up to date on his vaccines and is microchipped.  Ricardo's guardian offers the following:  "Ricardo is the ultimate snuggling companion!  He curls up next to his favorite humans and is content to be your couch mate for hours on end.  He is very social and loves to play with tug and chew toys.  He does need a good daily walk to help with his energy but he's got a nice mellow presence overall.  He knows basic commands 'sit', 'down', 'come'.  He is fine and enjoys the car.  He dislikes/fears fireworks."

Ricardo's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  "He has attacked my cat on several occasions."

Bite/Scratch/Attack Incident:  On 1 November 2023, Ricardo attacked the resident cat; the skin was not broken and animal control was not involved.  Ricardo's guardian explains:

"I have had to keep Ricardo and the cat completely separated due to his attacking her.  She recently entered a room where he was able to get to her and had her pinned down, trying to bite her.  I was able to pull him off her."

Ricardo's guardian states the following regarding children:  Ricardo hasn't lived with or otherwise been around young children, so his guardian doesn't recommend him living with young children, stating: "He is very curious when he sees young children."

Ricardo's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Ricardo hasn't live with or otherwise been around dogs, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating:  "He is reactive to other dogs and will quickly become aggressive."

Ricardo's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Richardo lives with a cat so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating:  "He is aggressive with cats."

Ricardo's guardian describes him as:

Very active
Affectionate
Always at your side
House-Trained
Crate-Trained
Likes men
Likes women
Separation anxiety

Ricardo's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "He should be placed in a home with no other dogs, cats, or young children.  He is high energy so owner must be willing to take him on walks."

Rehoming Fee:  None

More about this rescue

Rescue Well was founded by Christine Sandberg in Baltimore, Maryland in 2011. Since its launch, it’s grown from offering post-adoption support to the city shelter, to offering several programs across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our Programs focus on improving the lives of both pets and its owners. We proudly serve without judgment or expectations and we strictly follow our Rescue Well Engagement Model: ENGAGE > EDUCATE > EMPOWER.

Our organization’s programs are run by volunteers who are actively engaged in front-line intervention, community support, shelter support, and re-homing services for all pets.
