If you’re a fan of the Arabian breed, you will love our two gray girls – Shania and Sky! Sky is a stunning snow-white mare with really dainty and refined features.
Sky has lived with her sister Shania for her whole life, so the two of them are quite bonded. They are able to stall separately as long as they are close to one another, and over time we think they would benefit from some periods of separation just for their own well-being. We are open to placing these two mares together or separately depending on the situation and the progress we are able to make in creating some distance between them while they are at Nevins.
Sky has always been on the leaner side but has lost more weight recently. After her initial work up with our veterinarian, we discovered some potential problems with her teeth. She was recently seen by an equine dental specialist and will have some special considerations now for the rest of her life. She is on a soaked diet and will need a daily mouth rinse, which she is excellent for! Sky`s adopter should have a good relationship with their veterinarian and ideally an equine dental specialist as well. Staff would be happy to discuss her needs in further detail with any potential adopter!
Sky has been out of ridden work for about 10 years now, but she is a really fast learner and has a lot of earnest try. She couldn’t quite remember how to lunge when we first asked her, but by the end of the session she was able to walk and trot in both directions in a nice circle! She is super sensitive and responsive which is a dream if you can capture that energy and channel it toward the right answer. While we think she is past her riding days now, especially while we focus on her overall health, she is such a fun girl to be around and take on an adventure. We often go for hand walks with some grazing time with her and her sister Shania, and they are truly so nice just to be around. If you are looking to enjoy horse ownership and have a passion for caring for animals with some special needs, look no further than these incredibly special mares.
