My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Is he as sweet as he is cute???  Absolutely!!!  Carter's (affectionately known as Carter John) statistics and personality:

Carter John is an adorable adolescent puppy. I’d guess he’s around a year and a half old, or so. He’s just shy of 50 pounds. No one has the same guess as to what his breed is. His head comes up to my knee and although he has grown since we took him in, I don’t think he’ll get much bigger.

Carter John has medium energy. He’s not destructive and is totally crate trained. He can often be found picking up a toy and entertaining himself.

Carter John is sweet, sweet, sweet. He’s super affectionate. Our kids adore him and he loves them. He gets along with our personal dogs. And he does well with our other foster puppy about 95% of the time. Carter John is not near as confident as Cole, our other foster puppy. For this reason, Carter John would do best with an older and more chill dog sibling. He would be perfectly fine as the only dog, too. Unfortunately, if Carter feels threatened, he will try to make himself appear scary- to other dogs and to strangers, even though he really would prefer to give them kisses.

I’m not sure what happened in Carter John’s first months of life before the shelter, but I do know that it wasn’t all rainbows and roses. It breaks my heart to have to disclose that Carter John lives with more fear than most puppies. Carter’s ideal family would understand that he prefers stability and structure and that he is slow to accept lots of change- including new dogs and new people. But once he finds his people, he will trust them with all of his soul and he will hold up his part as an amazing family member. Carter deserves to feel safe, wanted and loved BIG.

If you’re looking for a total sweetheart who we consider to be a serial kisser, then Carter John is your boy!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................
