My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ranger was found running the neighborhood and a CFR volunteer lured him in. They took him for a microchip scan and the vet staff called the owner to whom he was registered and they no longer wanted Ranger. Who does that? Gets a puppy and then just turn them out on the hot streets of Texas to who knows what end.

He looks like a slender German Shepherd with a bit of Coonhound personality added for good measure. He likes to jump for anything thrown and this is his favorite pose. He is potty trained, his middle name is "NO," and he loves whipped cream LOL.

He is the branch manager at the house bringing in a stockpile of sticks so they will have firewood in the winter. And give him a pup cup with coolwhip in it and he will be in heaven. He is quiet and gentle and so needs his very own home forever where he won't be a backyard ornament or a street dog and let him show you how much he adores you. He is dog friendly too!

If you're looking for a sweet, gentle boy to wag that cute tail and give you lots of attention when you get home every day, Ranger is your guy! Why don't you schedule a meet and greet?  Just submit an adoption application at codysfriendsrescue.org and we will be in touch.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................
