My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You know how you meet someone else's dog? And they're the sweetest, smartest, funniest little dog, and you think, "I want a dog just like that."
Ginger is that dog.
She's 10 years old going on 5, knows her manners, is playful, completely potty trained, friendly, hilarious, affectionate, and an all-around JOY to have around.
She was well-loved all of her life until her mama had to leave her for dementia care. Sad story, really. But guess what? Ginger is an optimist! She's got verve and sass and a zest for life – she is living hers big!
From the smile on her face to the wiggly bum that greets you even after you've just stepped out for a moment, Ginger LOVES her people.
She also gets along well with other doggos, children that understand how to handle a little dog properly and even...cats.

If you are interested in adopting Ginger, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ginger's adoption fee is $300.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Ginger will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.

Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are not for profit.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.

Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.

DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
