Meet sweet Kipper. We think this pretty girl is about 8 years old. She is a Parson Russel Terrier and she weighs about 22 pounds. We got a call about a sweet little dog whose owner could no longer care for her. Unfortunately, her owner became seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. Her owner knew that she could no longer care for Kipper and she knew that it was time to surrender her.

This pretty girl was rescued from a hoarding situation many years ago. Her owner adopted her and gave her a great few years! She began the process of helping Kipper learn about life outside of a cage. Kipper learned how to walk on a leash, do her business outside; she learned that their are people who will love her and who will treat her like a family member instead of a baby making machine. Kipper's life changed for the better because of her patient owner. Neighbors of the owner were helping her take care of Kipper for over a year because her owner had trouble walking and moving around. The neighbors contacted us because they didn't want to see Kipper end up in the shelter now that her owner needed to surrender her. She has come such a long way over the years and a noisy shelter is no place for a skittish dog like Kipper. One of our foster families fell in love with Kipper and readily agreed to take this chunky monkey into her home to allow her to decompress.

Kipper has had a lot of changes and trauma in her little life. Of course she has stolen our hearts. Kipper can be shy when first meeting someone new. It doesn't take long for Kipper to walk over to the newcomer and ask for a belly rub. She does this in the cutest way! She will sit back on her bottom and raise her front legs up as she moves her front legs up and down in hopes for a belly rub. She looks at you with such soulful eyes and you actually feel her soul speaking to you. Since Kipper is skittish (especially with noises) we feel that she would do best in a quieter home. She needs a person or a family who will give her time to decompress and adjust with all of the changes she is going through. It would be a bonus if her new family works from home. Kipper doesn't mind kids, but we feel children 10 years old or older would be best. She’s super low key and very chill. She enjoys the company of other dogs and will take on the energy of the dog she is with. She loves company and loves to look out the window to watch the world go by. Kipper enjoys going for walks (which is good because she needs to lose a few pounds). She will spin in circles anticipating her walks outside! As stated before, her favorite thing is being pet (belly rubs are the best for sure)!

Kipper does not need to be crated. She is perfectly behaved when left alone. She has a crate without a door that she likes to sleep in (that will come with her). She has favorite blankets that she likes to snuggle on (those will come with her too). We do want her to feel the comforts of home by giving her the items that she is familiar with. She adjusted very well and very quickly in her foster home; so we know as long as her new owner gives her a little time and lots of love, she will be fine.
