As Margaret the Pyr's puppies turn 9 weeks old, we have an update from their foster mom:
"Twins Ellen and Diane, or Ellie and DeeDee (aka Ellie Bellie and Deedeedeedeedee) are distinguishable only by the darker fur near Ellie's tail. They are the same size, love to be held over the shoulder like babies and get full back rubs, and are equal parts very playful (bouncing and pouncing like Tigger) and very watchful, trying to figure out what's going on (or how to get another treat). They have been acing crate training, enjoying the great weather, and learning that being brushed is actually a good thing! I'm waiting on a DNA test for these guys -- I'm sure it will be 100% gorgeous. They often break away from playing to check in with me for snuggles, then go back to playing."
Please welcome Ellen! She is one of Margaret's puppies that were born on Jan 18, 2024! We know momma Margaret is a Great Pyrenees, but we do not know what the breed of the father is but they are in a foster home and we are told "All of Margaret's babies are very advanced, already using wee pads on a regular basis, and today is their 3 wk bday! #soproud"!
When they are ready to go to their forever families, Margaret's puppies will be looking for a home that abides by the GRRAND puppy guidelines:
Puppies are a lot of work, and if you are interested in a GRRAND puppy and have children, PLEASE SEE THE ADOPTION FAQs section of the website for more detailed info. GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying, and here are 2 big ones-
A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old
B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard... meaning direct access to the yard from the home… so this means no apartments or condos.
As with all puppies, they will need a home where someone is home most of the time as they need to be fed regularly, and let to go outside consistently and constantly ALL DAY LONG so potty training can be a breeze. They will be looking for a home with a fenced in yard and a family with LOTS of time and patience to socialize and work with a puppy so they can grow up to be good pups! ***Exercise and direction are a must as a tired puppy is a good puppy!! It is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work, and if you don't have the time, an active and non-stop playful puppy may not be for you!
Families must understand there needs to be constant supervision as children of all ages need to learn to respect an animal and puppies, and need to be taught boundaries. We are excited these pups will get to know what a nice soft bed, in a warm and cozy home with a loving family is all about!
Applicants should also expect Margaret's puppies to possibly be big, and you should be prepared for that sweet and independent Great Pyrenees personality... to know the Great Pyr breed is to love them, but they are not Goldens, and we suggest you do some research on this beautiful breed before applying! He will need a secure above ground fenced yard as Great Pyrs love to be in their yard to protect and patrol, and this happens best when they are in a secure space!
We will update as we learn more about these cuties, but if you are interested in meeting them, they are in a foster home waiting for you! Please fill out an application at GRRAND.org
