My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This beautiful blonde senior is 9-years-young and fixin to be the first Golden Bachelorette!
Blanca is a social butterfly with a lot of pep in her step. She loves to say hello to everyone she meets and will freely ask for scritches. A fan of the finer things in life, Blanca appreciates a good meal, some tasty treats, and a fun squeaky toy or two.

Per Short-term Foster: Blanca is an absolute sweetheart! She is so happy just being in the same room with you, so any activity is a treat to her. We went on so many walks, it may surprise you but she has a ton of energy for a 9 year old girlie! On walks, Blanca did not display any aggressive tendencies, she was not reactive towards other dogs or children. If a dog seems interested, she wants to say hi and the interaction has always gone well. She does not pull on the leash or resource guard at all. Blanca's time with me was spent on a second floor with really steep steps which she did every time, with a little pep talk to get her there. Blanca is genuinely the best girl. While she isn't fully house trained, she was open to training and with a little love and support, she can easily get there!

Got room in your heart for a gentle love like Blanca?
Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Blanca at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her.

Behavioral:
2/15/24 Per staff from event: Blanca attended a promotional event at a bar in center city last night. She was a talkative lady who would frequently bark to get the attention of those walking by, but once she was being pet and/or eating treats, she would calm down. She allowed petting by multiple people and proved that even though she is a senior, she is still full of energy! She was very sweet and wanted to make friends with everyone.

2/4/24 short term foster notes: Blanca is soooo sweet , she is the unbothered queen ! She literally just loves to lay around and soak up love . I live in roxborough, a very high traffic area for joggers and families with dogs . She is not reactive at all . She just wants to go on about her day and cuddle . She isn't fully house broken but is doing very well with training to be . She takes treats gently and is very polite . She doesn't like stairs (same) but after a little treat encouragement she was fine ! Overall she is literally the best girl ever !

1/29/24 volunteer notes: I can't believe this girl is nine years old!! She walked with a pep to her step, we walked for over a mile, and she seemed like she wanted to jog for part of it. Very nice leash manners, so so easy. Enjoyed treats and took them nicely. such a sweet, sweet girl. Not reactive to, dogs, joggers. Likes minding her own business
It took time for her to warm up to me, but I think she's gonna be great for any family ready to take her in

1/26/24 Staff notes: Blanca got out for some activity time today! In the kennel, she waited by the door to be leashed. She did push against the door a bit, but not enough to burst through. When we entered the room she wandered around a bit and sought out some attention. When she could hear dogs in TTA barking she barked back, but only a couple barks back. She sat right on my foot and waited for her pets! Blanca sat for treats and took them very gently from my hand. I tried to see if she would play with any toys, but this girl just wants love! She definitely enjoyed the quieter environment, laying out and relaxing. When returning to kennel she did need to be picked up, but the kennel was a little tall for her, and she walked right in once we got her feet on solid kennel floor. Overall, this senior sweetie just wants some peace and quiet and some love!

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement.
