My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you in need of some fun in your life? We'd recommend a trip to PARIS! Paris is a super sweet and playful lady who was surrendered to the shelter when her owner no longer had space for her. Paris might be bummed about this, but she isn't letting it show! Paris is a fun loving girl who likes to romp around and have a good time. Her previous owner shared that Paris lived with young kids, is housetrained, can be nervous with men, is high energy, and is playful with other dogs. They said that overall she is a great dog and while in our care she certainly has been well behaved and friendly with everyone! She enjoys doing zoomies in the play yard and taking yummy pepperoni treats. Paris is looking for her forever home.

Behavioral:

4/8 per staff: Paris got out for some fresh air today! She greeted me in kennel with soft eyes and a wagging tail. She was easy to leash and hopped right out. Paris walks SO nicely on leash with minimal pulling. She did pull toward other dogs in kennels as we walked by, but she was easy to handle and keep moving. Paris peed immediately when we got outside - I think she might be housetrained and trying hard to stay that way. When we got to the covered yard she sniffed around a bit and came right up to me when I called her. Paris is such a sweet little lady! She's a great mix of cuddly and playful. She's happy to come lean against you, soaking up some love and pets, and she's happy to chase a ball or play with a toy you give her. She didn't bring back any balls for fetch, but she did enjoy chasing them. Paris is just a perfect playful lovebug! Her hips did seem to be bothering her. She has an oddly wide gait in her two back legs, and sometimes when I would pet her hip area she would whip her head around and give some whale eye. She never escalated past just some whale eye, but that combined with her gait makes me think that her hips might be a little achey. Paris deserves a nice spot to land so she can rest her hips and get back to running and playing! When it was time to return she walked nicely with minimal pulling again. She hopped right back into kennel and got curled up on her bed for a nap. Overall she's a super sweet girl that might have some hip pain, but she doesn't let that slow her down!

3/23 per volunteer: Such a sweet and playful girl! Dodged the leash a few times when i went to leash her but then allowed leashing and came right out. She pulls minimally but I think with a harness she would be great. Super excited in the play yard! She liked to romp around and got zoomies at one point when I threw a squeaky toy. She loves treats and takes them sooo gently! She seems to be very in tune with smells- her nose was to the ground the whole time we were walking, and a lot of the time I was petting her she was sniffing my leggings up and down. She was a perfect combo of playful when outside, then calm and gentle when interacting with me. Such a sweetie!

3/20 per staff: In the room Paris was wiggly and had a low wagging tail. She was a bit alert to her surroundings and would dart around at noises or fast movements. She would come over to us with soft eyes. She needs a lot of vocal encouragement and perks up with praise and baby talk. She allowed all handling and would lean in while petting her. She also liked cheese and would take it gently when offered

3/20 per staff: Food motivated to an extent, likes cream cheese and doesn't like bologna. Is very fearful when people stand over her or are standing in general, pt backs up and does not approach. When I crouched to her level, her behavior completely changed and she came up to me for pets and cuddles.

Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions.
