Hi there, I'm Sugar! My name is no coincidence - I'm as sweet as can be! I'm a 5-year-old Chow Chow mix. I love to play, whether it's fetch, tug-of-war, or just goofing around. Not only am I playful, but I'm also quite smart. I learn quickly and I'm always eager to show off my new tricks. I have some stranger danger at first, and it will take me a minute to cozy up to you. Once I get to know you, I'm a loyal friend, always by your side, ready to lend a paw or a comforting nuzzle! I can be a bit protective of my people, so for this reason, I'd do best in a home without young kids. I'm looking for a family that doesn't have other pets, so I can shower them with all my love and loyalty. I have a huge heart full of love that I'm ready to share with a human! I'm just waiting for the right person to give it to. Could that be you?

Upon adoption of either a cat or dog, adoption fees do vary. All adoption fees include up-to-date vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt. More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
