My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoey is a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix who has spent two long years waiting for her chance at a forever home. Two years in a shelter is tough for any dog, but Zoey’s spirit is still shining bright. She’s full of energy, enthusiasm, and personality! Zoey loves her treats, enjoys her outside time, and walks well on a leash. She’s a smart girl with a goofy side that will absolutely make you smile. With her intelligence comes the need for someone patient and committed—Zoey would thrive with continued training and a person willing to invest the time she deserves. Zoey is overflowing with love and just wants someone to call her person. She does well with most other dogs, though a meet and greet is recommended to make sure everyone is a good match. After two years of waiting, Zoey is more than ready to leave the shelter behind and start the life she’s been dreaming of.

My adoption fee is $80.

More about this shelter

We are a private 501 (c) 3 shelter in rural West Tennessee. We are named after the late Mrs. Frances Halbrook Hensley. Mrs. Hensley was an avid animal lover of all dogs and cats. She sacrificed everyday essentials that most take for granted in order to leave all she could to build this facility. This shelter is her dream, her vision, her legacy and the very first of its kind for this community.

It is our Mission to carry out her legacy by giving abandoned and neglected animals in our community the love and care that they deserve while offering every opportunity to finding their forever home.
