My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Description

Dak is a handsome, really well-behaved, gentle and good boy, who is friendly, polite and playful.

Personality

Dak is amiable, easy going, and happy go lucky. He is content to just be with you and doesn’t need any additional attention. He understands humans and their expectations, and is welcoming and friendly with both new dogs and new people. Dak is great in the car, jumps right in on command, sits still while waiting, and patient and quiet on trips. Dak would be a good dog for a first time pet owner. He is already trained, has good doggy manners, is good on a leash, and listens well. He really pays attention to you and wants to please you. He is very playful but not high energy, doesn’t jump on you and follows where you want him to go. A low maintenance dog who is a joy to be around. He is both smart and handsome!

Background

Dak and Trooper (formally Cooper) were reluctantly surrendered by their loving owners in January 2024 due to circumstances involving elderly family care out of state. They did not want to give them up, but were having to travel so much back and forth from Fort Worth to Louisiana to help their parent, that caring for 2 large dogs had become much too much on top of it all. Pet sitters or boarding was too expensive with all of the travel expenses and they couldn’t take the dogs with them to their parent’s residence. Dak was originally adopted from the Fort Worth Humane Society.
