My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dot
Pawfect pup alert! Dot was rescued from a kill shelter that needed to make room for
more dogs. She is an absolute gem. Dot is sweet, gentle, calm, loving, affectionate, funny, happy-go-lucky and so friendly. She loves people, will do well with kids and she loves dogs! Oh my gosh she is so easy-going. Dot loves going for walks, she makes friends with dogs everywhere she goes. She seems to like kitties also.
When released into our play yard, she greets each neighbor dog with a friendly check
and how-do-you-do. We can tell by the smile on her face and the happy wag of her tail
that she is so happy to have been given a second chance to find her furever home.
We’re not sure what Dot’s breeds are, she has a plott hound look or she could be a
pibble mix, lab mix, but she is 100% terrific! She has a gorgeous silver colored brindle
coat, sparkling eyes, and a pretty face. She only weighs 39 lbs and is fully grown. Best
estimate is she’s around two years old. She's a great medium size, not too big and not too small, just right.
Dot will love to be included in her person/family’s activities. She loves going for walks,
she’d be a great companion for those days exploring the wineries or hiking trails,
followed by lunch at an outdoor café or a picnic. She travels well, is open to new things. Dot seems to be on the quiet side. We don’t hear a lot of barking from her. She is a quiet, confident young dog. She is one in a million and we expect that she’d transition into a home easily.
If interested in Dot, please submit an application online at:
https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application
Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your
application has been successfully received. If you don’t receive this email within 24
hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please email
us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an
approval process which involves a reference check with a current/recent vet and a brief
home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions.
Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do
not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and
application procedures are detailed at the shelter website:
http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care
remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished
and also rescued from local and area Animal Controls. The facility usually operates at
capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Adoptions and meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only. Complete an
application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. An application
doesn’t commit you or us to an adoption, but it allows our coordinator to begin the
review process.
