My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sirius is a 9-month-old American Bulldog mix. He's currently in foster care, as he isn't the biggest fan of shelter life. Sirius was not socialized in his previous home, so he is very scared of new people. However, he's slowly gaining confidence! One thing about Sirius is that he LOVES other dogs. He loves them so much that we're actually requiring there be another canine friend in his future home, as we've noticed he opens up a lot more around other dogs and is happier overall!

In his foster home, he gets along really well with the cats and other dogs. He would do best in a home with either no kids or older kids that can respect his boundaries. It's also preferred that he have a fenced-in yard in his future home, so no apartments for this boy! It still takes him a while to warm up, and he will need a patient adopter willing to work with him at his own pace. Once Sirius gets to know you, he is super sweet and playful. We know his person is out there!

Sirius's adoption fee is $175 and includes up-to-date vaccines, spay/neuter, and microchip. If you're interested in meeting him, please fill out an adoption application and contact our foster coordinator at foster@hsswmo.org to set up a meet and greet.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
