My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In the summer of 2022, one of our long-time fosters received a call that there was a cat in one of her trees. After four days of trying all of the usual methods, she decided she needed to call a climber. With temps rising, the climber started at 11am. By 4pm the climber and cat were at the top of the tree. Neither the cat nor climber could go any higher and ultimately the cat jumped. This is the "short version of how "Tarzan came into our program.

Tarzan came home with this foster to be with her two other fosters. He strongly bonded with ChiChi. They play together non-stop and sleep together. Tarzan is estimated to be approximately 2-3 years old.

ChiChi came to the same foster after being rescued from a hoarding situation. He had caught his back leg in a dryer vent. The resulting damage caused his rear leg to be amputated. ChiChi is estimated to be about 2 years old.

These bonded boys need an adopter who is experienced with animals as they will need time to readjust and acclimate more than some. They absolutely MUST be INDOORS ONLY. They have not been around dogs. Tarzan, in particular, is shy around new people and doesn't do well around very small children.

More about this rescue

The Humane Society of Oldham County is the areas first no kill animal rescue. We run a top notch spay\neuter clinic, rescue and find loving homes for homeless or abused animals in our area, monitor and care for feral cat colonies including TNR. We also help the community through our many programs including Kentucky State Reformatory(KSR) Camp K9 where dogs are housed with professionally trained, monitored, nonviolent inmates to socialize and train our adoptable dogs to be highly adoptable and have good basic skills. A wonderful program for the inmates and our dogs.
