My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How does one describe Pumpkin? She wants to be loved so badly, but she takes her time before warming up. She wants to cuddle, but does it on her terms. It could be a 30-second cuddle session or a nap curled up on your legs for two hours. She allows herself to get just so close before pulling back. Something sad must have happened to her prior to us rescuing her, because she needs to know she is safe and secure. She's still warming up to her foster who has had her since December 23, but every day she trusts more and "warming up" takes less. Pumpkin loves to play! Antlers, bones, and tennis balls have been her favorites so far. She can sit, give paw, lay down, and give kisses. If her foster asks for kisses, Pumpkin puts her nose to her lips. There is a lot of personality in her! She loves car rides, too! If she hears the keys, she runs to the garage door ready to go! Pumpkin is fully potty trained and a classy gal. She goes to her foster's back door when she wants to go potty and goes to the front door when she wants to go for a walk. She is still working on leash training - cold weather has slowed it down!

Pumpkin has not been tested around babies or toddlers, but she does wonderfully with younger kids. She lives with a 10-year old and 13-year old, and they absolutely adore her. We have not tested Pumpkin with other dogs yet either.

Pumpkin has a lot of life and love to offer and will make a family very happy and entertained. She is an incredibly smart and sweet girl, but needs someone that will be loving to her and show her that she is forever safe.

More about this rescue

Dog is my Shepherd Rescue & Rehab is a 501c3 nonprofit rescue located in Illinois devoted to saving, training, and rehabbing dogs locally and nation-wide from the shelters to the streets. We rescue all breeds, all ages, all sizes, and all personalities. We don't discriminate, from pitbulls to puppies, and everything in between, we rescue them all. We are run by two dog loving gals that want to make a positive pawprint with both short term and long term goals. We know we cannot save them all, but we can save many, and it's our mission to make sure they get their happily ever after.
