My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to this pretty and unique little lady. Emma is a rescued stray that we received in December from another rescuer who was hoping to get her out of the cold. She had a feeder/caretaker but he knew nothing about the history or ages of the cats in the group so we had to estimate her age based on her appearance. We estimate she is a young adult cat so set her age at a year. She is very petite - in fact she is physically not much bigger than the four to five month old kittens she was rescued with; she is just a bit rounder/heavier.

One extremely unique feature she has is her tail. She has a short stumpy tail with an odd nub at the end. It's about 3 inches long, so it's unlikely she was born as a bobtail. We suspect a healed tail injury she had at some point, but we will never know. It just makes her more special.

She is a friendly girl, but shy in a new situation. She was understandably very scared when we took her in but she has adapted beautifully. Until she gets to know you, when you walk into the room she is initially nervous, but never aggressive. Once you stroke her a few times and she realizes it feels good and you are safe, she will come out of her shell and enjoy the attention. With time and stability in a forever home, she will adjust fine.

She has been living in a foster home with another cat and dog for the last several weeks and is doing great. She more or less ignores the dog, so being in a home with a dog who respects her space would certainly be no problem. She plays and hangs out with the other cat. All introductions to new fur-friends should be slow and careful. Young kids who are very active would probably frighten her since she is already nervous, so we recommend a home with older children over 12 or one without children.

Emma is spayed, microchipped, has age-appropriate vaccinations and is FIV/FeLV negative. Cats adopted from the rescue must remain as indoor pets only and must never be declawed. Please apply to adopt at packleadersrescue.com.
