My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Charlie (and Okja)!

Charlie (and Ojkja) made their way out of a BC forest fire just in time to be rescued! They have been living a great life here at our shelter in Surrey BUT have been longing for their forever family to spend their time with. Both Charlie and Okja have the sweetest personalities and love to take great care of each other. Their favorite time is when the lights go on in the morning and they come right over, stand on their hind legs for their good morning treat and nose boop.
They are also both quite clean and tidy, keeping their 'messes' to their litter box!

(Rabbits are very active animals that require space to hop around; x-pens or even a full rabbit room would be great! Please do your research to ensure your lifestyle is compatible with the needs of a rabbit. If you would like to meet Charlie and Okja, please follow the steps below.)

*Note that we require a photo of the enclosure\room you plan to house Okja and Charlie in*

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
