My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FROM MEXICO TO THE LAND OF LINCOLN - MEET ELLIE! This adorable, and most fortunate puppy was seen by a human angel in Guanajuato, Mexico as she was scavenging around hoping to find some food. She was tiny, skinny and tired; hence her angel picked her up, took her in that cold evening, and ended up bringing her back home to Illinois. Since then, she's been reminded every day that she is safe, loved, and will never go hungry again.

Ellie is playful, now healthy with typical puppy energy, and wonderfully social. She loves people (especially children!), plays well with other dogs of all sizes, and is a bit intimidated by the cat in her current foster home. Since she's young, she learns quickly, (especially when treats are involved). In a few short weeks, Ellie has already learned the following commands: Sit, No, Bed, Water, Come, Go Pee, Walk, Snack. She walks great on leash and is making good progress on her potty-training (also familiar with pee pads). After playing, she easily winds down for a nap - she loves her sleep as much as her playtime. Ellie is crate-trained and that's where she sleeps through the night.

So despite her very tough beginnings as a street dog, we think this little one is already showing great potential to provide a family with a pawesome companion who will shower them with love and loyalty.

Ellie is 3 months old at the time of this writing. We do not know what Ellie's breed combination is, though her appearance suggests terrier, possibly some bully, perhaps along with ???. Since she is still so young, she will need a family where someone is home most of the day who can attend to her continued potty training, obedience training, exercise needs and socialization. Though our best guess is that she will be a medium size dog, we don't know what size, weight, shape or breed look-alike she will grow into, so only those willing to take pot luck should apply. (If your housing has pet breed or weight restrictions, you should not apply.) Feel free to share this cutie if you know someone who may be interested.

Ellie's adoption fee of $350 includes: Vet exam, DAPP vaccination (distemper combo), Bordetella vaccination, Leptospirosis vaccination, deworming, microchip and spay.
