My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Bailey, I am 1 year old, a Majorca shepherd mix (at least, that’s what my hoomans tell me), and weigh about 65 lbs.

Honestly, my favorite thing to do is to be touched by my hoomans, and if they don’t, I show them how to do it by petting them myself or laying my head on their laps. However, I do understand that they can be a bit busy — doing what? I don’t know — so if they are, I’ll play with my sister, Darcy, nab my little hooman’s socks, chew on my toys, or lay on my comfy bed.

Dislikes? I really don’t have any, unless you count not being able to be on the furniture as one… I’m not allowed on the furniture, but boy, do I love laying on there and dislike it when I’m told to get down. Ba-humbugs!

Lucky for me, I am potty, crate, & leash trained, though I tug a little when I get the zoomies or my hooman is being a slow poke. I also know some basic hooman words, so I listen well & am easily trainable.

I don’t have too high of energy because I will lay there on my bed and chew my toys, but I do like to go on daily walks because, after all, I am still young and since I’m partial shepherd, I do like to be active.
If I’m comfortable with you, I can be a social butterfly, so I like all creatures: dogs, cats, and even little hoomans. I’ve only been around ones that are 6 & 9 years old (wow! Those are really old little hoomans in dog years), so I’m not sure how I’d do around babies, but I’m sure if they’re willing to pet me, I’ll be gentle and loving to them right back.

Though I’m an all-around very sweet girl, my hooman has to get on to me sometimes (again, ba-humbugs!)… I can be a bit mouthy when they put a leash on me, but I don’t bite hard, I promise, I just get really excited and it just makes me feel good. Also, I do like to jump, but that could be my hoomans’ fault because when I do they wrap their arms around me to squeeze me into a big bear hug, and I really do love it when they do that! But I know I’m not really suppose to and I’m willing to stop…as long as you are willing to give me a big bear hug anytime I listen well.

I do hope I find the right furever home with the right hoomans! Though my fosters love me and treat me right & proper, I understand that I was made for a different family, and I’m really excited to be able to meet them one day.

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.

Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.

Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
