My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A PRETTY & SWEET GIRL:  5 years old / 49 lbs. and needs to lose a little weight

Hi, I’m Jocelyn!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control & could not be more grateful for the love & good care I’m receiving.  I am happy to be in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I don’t like the dogs I’ve met at Mostly Mutts, so I’ll want to be your only dog. My foster says that now I only growl when off-leash dogs come running up to me.  She says, ‘leave it’ or has me ‘sit’ and I’ve done well with that. I now do well when passing other leashed dogs on our walks, but I still don’t want to live with another dog. / I got along well with the dog savvy cat in the temp. foster home where I stayed when my regular foster was away.  I gave him some sniffs & he hissed, but after a few days, we just went about our business & were calm around each other.  I WILL chase cats that run from me and that won’t tell me “NO”, so it would need to be a dog savvy cat that will tell me to behave.  If you have a kitty like that, let’s meet & see if we can be pals. / I met a nice boy & girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts & liked them.  I also like the 3, 5 & 12-year old kids in my temp. foster home.  I was gentle & enjoyed playing catch, fetch & tug as well as napping with them, so a home with kids around those ages could be a good fit for me & best no toddlers I could bump over.  Let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet, friendly girl with a gentle nature, who just needs to get to know you a little to feel comfortable with you.  As pretty as I am playful, the volunteers love me & my corkscrew tail wiggles. The volunteers say that I’m a really nice dog. I have lost some weight, but I need to lose a little more, so I take about 15,000 fun steps a day with my foster over multiple walks.  My foster mom says I am “a joy.”  I am not an incessant barker but will give a little alert bark at new things I hear outside the house, as any good doggie would do.  I tore up a tennis ball & stuffed bone, but left the squeaky parts so please make sure to check my toys and give me sturdy Nylabones.  On rare occasions, I get curious to “surf” the counters but respond well to “off” so please keep food out of my reach & teach me the boundaries. / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ & ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I bet you could teach me even more.  Occasionally, I tug a bit on my leash when we take a new route with new smells because I am so excited, but otherwise I am a nice loose leash walker. I have learned to be calm when I see squirrels, birds, rabbits or deer, but if one runs in front of me, I will pull. I respond well to the ‘leave it’ and ‘sit’ commands. / My crate manners have been good.  My foster said I am fine to be left out in her bedroom where I just lie on the bed or look out the window. I have a blanket-covered crate left open that sometimes I use for naps.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule & in my foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I enjoy going for walks, playing with lots of toys & snuggling.  I love to play & do zoomies in the play yard at the shelter, so a fenced yard where we can stretch our legs, lie in the sunshine & have fun would be great in my new home.  I also like to play with Nylabones & tug toys.  I really enjoy belly rubs, lying on the couch & looking out the window in my foster home.  I enjoy healthy snacks like apples, blueberries, and watermelon.  I’m a fan of car rides too so let’s go lots of places together, and I give good hugs – do you need a hug? / I don’t care for green beans, heavy rain, sudden loud noises, loud vehicles & nail gun sounds, but fireworks were okay. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, walks & training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & spayed. I need to lose a little weight, so I’m on a lower calorie food.

I am looking for a wonderful family to love me for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
