My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet gorgeous Orange Tabby girl Tangie! Check out her glorious stripes and her rust-colored orange fur. She came to us after being surrendered to a local animal shelter along with her kittens. Tangie is now an empty-nester! Currently, Tangie is with a loving foster family and has certainly benefited from being fostered. Not only did she become gorgeous and gain the weight she needed, but her personality has changed a lot as she has become comfortable and feels safe and secure.  Tangie loves being in the vicinity of a human. She finds the back of a couch to lay on if you are on the couch and perches happily on an armchair of a chair so that she is next to you.. It is adorable. She loves playing - a tennis ball, a toy mouse, really any cat toy will make her happy. And she loves and adores watching cat TV. She is getting used to the company of the other resident cats in her foster home. Recently, one of the foster family’s cats was licking Tangie’s ear for a bit. Real progress learning to share a home with another friendly feline. Tangie loves her food and the way to her heart is through pretty much ANY canned foods. Her foster mom shares that she can see Tangie progress to a lap cat in a loving adopted home environment pretty quick.  Her estimated birth date is May 7, 2022. Cats adopted from TMHPR are indoor only.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All applications are submitted to an adoption board for approval to ensure a happy forever home for both owner and pet. In effort to reduce the possibility of the pet being returned, adopters are carefully screened to be sure that the personality of both the pet and adopter are a good match. We will be in contact with you during this process.

Puppies are ready to go home after their 2nd of 3 shots and spay/neuter are complete. A $50 deposit will hold the puppy of your choice. The 3rd. shot is included in the adoption fee.

All pets are to be kept as indoor, non-working, members of your family and are spayed and neutered before being adopted. These pets also receive all appropriate vaccinations and are microchipped.

A safe pet home visit is included in the adoption fee.

More about this rescue

Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a 100% nonprofit organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population by removing dogs and cats from shelters and other unfortunate situations and having them spayed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted to their forever families.

We consists of a small core group of volunteers who care about the welfare of our homeless pets. We are located in Richardson, Texas and survive solely from your generous donations and fundraiser's (after fundraiser...after fundraiser!). All of our pets live in our homes as we do not have an actual facility. Because they live within the dynamics of the foster families and are exposed to children of all ages and other pets, we find that that our foster cats and dogs are more adoptable as they have already been socialized to live in a family environment.

We have been in existence since April 2008 and have already rescued over 600 dogs and cats from local kill shelters and other unfortunate situations.

All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered before being adopted. These pets also receive all appropriate vaccinations and are microchipped. In effort to reduce the possibility of the pet being returned, adopters are carefully screened to be sure that the personality of both the pet and adopter are a good match.
