My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thomas is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. Thomas the Tank, was adopted about 8 months ago. Tank for short lives in a single family home with a large family with young children, an 18 year old cat, and a four-year-old American staffy. There have not been any concerns about tanks' behavior with the children or other animals. Tank is microchipped, neutered, up today on all vaccinations, heartworm medication, and flea medication. He recently completed his annual check-up with his vet and had his annual heartworm test and stool checked. Tank had a happy tail, and due to this we had to have his tail docked. Tank has been through basic obedience. He is very food motivated. Tank understands the commands sit, down, off, here, leave it, free, cookie, watch me, enough, and touch. He is quick to learn. Tank is fully housebroken and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Tank does not enjoy tall men. Tank is protective of women and children, and he does not enjoy people rough housing. Tank is a very vocal dog. His bark i s loud and authoritative. We have not had any behavioral issues with him other than his dislike of men. Unfortunately, we are not able to get him to stop barking at my husband. We have attempted many things to correct the behavior without much luck. Tank bathes easily at home but is often taken to a local groomer for regular baths, nail trims, and oral and ear care. Tank enjoys hiking on trails around Lake Monroe. He is a cuddle bug and enjoys playing with his toys. He has a personalized chew proof ballistic bed with washable cover, a raised food and water bowl, and a kennel that would be going to his new home. More about this shelter

The shelter has very active volunteer and foster programs. Volunteers walk dogs and help with cat care. Fosters take young, shy and injured animals into their homes to prepare them for adoption. Learn more on our website and consider getting involved today!
