My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bella is a one-year-old, 31-pound, joyous and affectionate Shepherd mix puppy. Our best guess is that she is fully, or nearly fully, grown.

Bella loves EVERYBODY. She happily greets visitors and strangers with puppy curiosity and affection. She is in a foster home with 8 other dogs, from tiny pups to an 80-pound lab mix, and gets along well with all of them. This is in large part due to her sweet nature. She is the most submissive dog we’ve ever seen. When a new dog approaches her—including dogs 1/5 of her size—BAM! She’s on her back allowing them to sniff and check her out.

Bella’s very favorite game is Throw the Toy. Foster dog mom throws the toy. . .Bella either brings it back or takes it to her bed to hoard it with her other toys. Repeat, repeat, repeat until foster dog mom’s arm gives out. Her other favorite game is Zoomies, where she runs around the yard with the other dogs. I chase you. . .no you chase me. . .wait, who’s chasing who?

Bella wants to please everyone, not just other dogs. She adores foster dog mom and dog dad, and greets them with enthusiastic jumps and excitement whenever They come home. Anytime one of her fosters is sitting, Bella either sits beside them begging for some pets, or she stands on the ground with her paw and head in a foster’s lap, insisting on being petted. If you happen to be of a mood to give a tummy rub, so much the better.

As an older puppy, Bella has her manners down. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She rarely barks. She can sit on command and fetch. She takes treats very gently from your hand. She sleeps through the night, either in a dog bed or on a chair. She is mostly leash-trained.

Bella needs an active household. She would be very happy to have some kids to play with, but she’d also love another dog to play with. No cats though—she can be a brat around cats. She will do better in a home where somebody is there most of the day. She occasionally goes to doggy daycare and loves it, and she would love trips to the dog park or long walks.

Bella’s adoption fee is $175 and includes spay, all shots & microchip. She is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication.

Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
