My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you need a playful pup for your playful pup? Honey is a lovable, caring, fun, energetic, and spunky dog. She loves lots of attention, likes long walks but is still learning her leash manners. Apartment life is not for her.  She has a lot of energy so she needs a home with an active family and a large fenced yard to run around in and work out the zoomies.

She is a 5-year-old, 60lb female Lab/Hound mix. Honey is dog friendly, and it's recommended that she would do better in a setting with older kids.  She is active so wouldn't want to accidently knock a little one down.  A recent vacation Foster had this to say about sweet Honey: "We only fostered her one night while her foster mom was away but she did AMAZING with my kids who are 4 and 6. She played outside with them, immediately rolled on her belly for them and did not jump.  Again, we only had her one night and she loved the fenced yard but when she was in the house, she was chill and just laid in the middle of the floor with everyone.  Just wanted to share our experience with her"

Most importantly Honey is house trained and is crate trained which is great! She does well when she is in her crate while alone. Honey likes toys and likes to chew, so would do well with durable toys and things to keep her occupied. At the end of the day, she’ll be the first one to lay on the couch and cuddle with you. Honey is looking for a loving home with her furever family to love her and play with her.

As part of Honey's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sandy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
