My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pecan, the perfect blend of loyalty, athleticism, and beauty from his Rhodesian ridgeback side, coupled with the courage, sweetness, and friendliness of a pitbull. This charming boy adores everyone, except for those sneaky cats. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with dogs of all sizes. Pecan's a playgroup rockstar, showcasing his stellar personality even at the shelter. He also loves his humans - always seeking pets and trying to be by your side. Pecan is ready to go on adventures with his forever person!

I was found near Pecan Park Drive & Raleigh Millington Road (38128) on 2/11/24.

Read about Pecan's adventurous foster field trip here:

"Pecan had a blast on Saturday! As soon as he walked into the room, he
was so calm, collected, and ready to go just about anywhere! When we
got into the car, he sat there patiently waiting for us to roll the
window down, and from then on, he never took his eyes off the view. We
started with a quick trip to Cookout! We got Pecan a hamburger, and a big cup of water. We then drove to the Shelby Farms and parked to watch our sweet boy enjoy his meal! We started to give him small bites, unsure if he would like it, but we were shortly surprised when he gently pulled the whole burger away and ate it without hesitation. His big, beautiful puppy dog eyes even managed to score him a few pieces of my hotdog!

Once we finished eating, we got Pecan out of the car, and he was ready to go! His head stayed on a swivel, just curious about every little thing! We got to the trail and started walking, where he kept his cool, laid-back demeanor. Pecan loved just sitting by the lake and watching the ducks and other dogs play around him. I could tell when it was time to leave; he just wanted to stay there forever!

Pecan and I had a great laidback Saturday together!"

Pecan attended playgroup on 2/28/24. He was friendly and social with a rough and rowdy play style. Pecan was a very playful boy and a great greeter for new dogs.

Pecan attended playgroup 3/6/24. He was high energy and acted as a good greeter dog for new dogs entering the yard.

Pecan attended playgroup on 3/13/24. He was social with the other dogs but sometimes acted as "fun police" when other dogs got too rowdy for him.

Pecan attended the playgroup on 3/15/24. Upon entry, he was friendly and social and loved Buttercup. He showed a rough and rowdy push-and-pull playstyle and was vocal when playing hard.

Pecan attended playgroup 3/26/24. He was friendly and social with a playful attitude.

Pecan is a playful and affectionate pooch ready to steal your heart! With a knack for fetching toys and showing off his obedience skills by sitting on command, Pecan is a true charmer. He's a pro at walking nicely on a leash, making outdoor adventures a breeze. Affectionate and attentive, Pecan loves showering his humans with love and attention. His silly and playful nature adds a touch of joy to every moment, yet he also knows how to unwind and relax when the time calls for it. With medium energy levels, Pecan strikes the perfect balance between playfulness and calmness. Get ready to welcome this delightful companion into your life!
