Boy have I been searching for you all for quite some time. I’ve been with BVSPCA since February 2024! Can you believe it? Me either. My foster family doesn’t quite understand why I haven’t been adopted yet. I’ve been with them for six months, and I’ve shown myself to be a delightful companion. My foster mom likes to call me a ‘retirement dog’. I’m not quite sure what she means, but I think she calls me that because I’m quite low maintenance and don’t require too much exercise to be a content, fulfilled dog. I’m happy to just snuggle up on the couch all day long, especially if food’s involved. I LOOOVE treats; any and all! I’m a great house guest, I don’t have accidents inside, and I peacefully cohabitate with my foster dog & cat brothers. I like to play with them every now and then, too, when I can find the time to stop napping. But what I really love is PEOPLE! I shine under the attention of humans :) Sometimes, I really enjoy having my own space to decompress, as I haven’t had many safe spaces to call my own in life. I need an adopter who understands this need and can provide the boundaries and guidance to thrive in my new home. My foster mom says I’m crate desensitized. I can hangout in there & have gotten great exposure while in foster, but I can be a little vocal when I first go in. I love to sing! I’ll sing to go potty, sing for treats, or sing just because everyone else is singing! I am just a goofy, weird girl who is hoping to find her forever home at the young age of 8. I think it will happen soon. In the meantime, I love my foster home. It can only go up from here!
Love,
Kiwi

Founded in 1929, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve No Kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In 2015, the BVSPCA opened its first Animal Health Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania, making veterinary care more accessible to local residents. In 2016, the BVSPCA took on a five-year contract with the Delaware Office of Animal Welfare to provide state-wide animal services, and expanded its reach further into the tri-state area by opening both a second shelter and a second Animal Health Center in New Castle County, Delaware. Shortly after, a PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center was opened in Dover, Delaware. Its mission is to put the “human” back in humane animal treatment and to advocate on their behalf. Each year, the BVSPCA cares for more than 10,000 stray, owner-surrendered, wayward owned, and abused and neglected animals.
