My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Big Bertha stays true to her name, she weighs in at 114 pounds! This big lady is the happiest and snuggliest girl...she even thinks she is a lap dog! Bertha came to us after her owner sadly passed away and she found herself at animal control. She is a AKC certified purebred Bloodhound who is 4 years old, and has a lot of love to give. Being that she is so large, she is a bit of a puller! However, with a good harness, she is easy to walk and doesn't even bark at passing dogs. This girl is an absolute GEM and we know she won't be in the shelter system long....I mean look at that face!!! Apply to adopt Big Bertha today!

More about this shelter

CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.

CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
