My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Donna is gorgeous and she loves a good conversation! She makes great eye contact, and listens carefully. She wants to please, and she's not a cat to ignore you or pretend she doesn't care. She cares!

Donna will bond with you and see you as her protector and friend. She enjoys being petted and given attention.

She was assaulted by a cat years ago and is still wary. She has a private room here and we would like her to be an only cat or to have lots of space and her own eating area.  Donna was born in 2014 but doesn't look her age!  We want to make adopting easy for you! Here’s our application:   https://rappcats.org/adoptions/ Once you complete it, we’re on it! We’ll call your vet (or personal reference) the next business day. Then we like to do a brief video chat (FaceTime if you have it) so you can show us your new pet’s home - where they’ll sleep, eat, and play. During our chat, we can also give you tips or answer questions about how to successfully integrate your new family member into your household, especially if you have other pets. Our adoption fee is $150 and covers our costs of spay/neuter, vaccinations, vet exam, and supplies. (Once old enough, all our cats are current on their shots and have been spayed/neutered.) We’re a strictly no-kill shelter just for cats. We’re cage-free, donation-based, and volunteer-powered. We’re small but special and we’re glad you found us! For more info don’t hesitate to call or text us at 540-987-6050 or email us at adopt@rappcats.org.

More about this shelter

We operate the only state-approved cat shelter in Rappahannock County, relying entirely on private funds. Our shelter is no-kill. We euthanize out of human compassion only those cats that are suffering and cannot be saved.

Our shelter is also cage-free. The cats live, eat and sleep in large open spaces with each other. They are beloved to our dedicated volunteers.

Our dedicated volunteers also help the residents of our rural county to spay/neuter cats; rescue, and provide shelter and medical care for stray, abandoned and injured cats; and find loving homes for homeless cats.

All RappCats cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and healthy (unless otherwise noted).
