My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kazoo!

At 4 years young, Kazoo is a gentle giantess, boasting a stunning coat that mirrors the earthy hues of a twilight forest. This loving soul carries the wisdom of her breed, paired with a unique zest for life that's all her own. She has the funniest personality and has won over the hearts of the entire staff at the Maple Ridge BC SPCA. Kazoo is a big and strong girl, and guardians with breed experience would be an asset.

Kazoo would thrive in a confident family where she can be the center of attention. She adores her people and spends her days playing fetch and cuddling with staff and volunteers. However, she's not suited to a home with other animals, as she can be selective towards dogs and does not get along with cats. Kids make Kazoo nervous, so an adult-only home is best. She's a smart girl who has shown remarkable improvement since entering our care, and we can only imagine what being with a dedicated pet-parent will do for her!

You can find Kazoo ambling through leafy trails, where she wears her brindle coat like camouflage, becoming one with the natural world. Kazoo is a connoisseur of treat tasting, always up for sampling the latest in canine cuisine, and she holds a special fondness for puzzle toys that challenge her sharp mind.

If you're looking for a loyal companion to add warmth and wonder to your life, Kazoo is ready to fill that spot with her grand presence and tender soul. If you think you have enough space in your home and heart for this lovely girl, apply online today!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
