My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elsa was found with two other beagles, Melissa and Lemmie, and brought to a rural shelter. None of them were claimed so we took in all three cute little girls.

Elsa is another very sweet beagle who likes people. She will come when you call her since she loves to be loved on and petted. We haven't had her long so she is still revealing her personality.

She is working on housebreaking and will readily go outside when you let her out. We don't think she has much experience on a leash since she tends to be all over the place, although she seems to enjoy the walks. Her energy level has been fairly low so far and she is a bit timid, but it could be her getting used to her new life as a pet. She seems to be a little unsure and fearful of cars/trucks on walks. We think she will be a good companion once she settles into her new pet life.

She is currently being fostered with Lemmie, and although we are not requiring they be adopted together, they do LOVE each other and so we do think Elsa should have another dog in the home.

Elsa is vaccinated, micro-chipped, spayed and she is HW positive. We have started her on the medication.

Additional adoption info

We require an application. Once the application is received we check personal and vet references and if renting, we verify with leasing company that pets are allowed. If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are all kept in foster homes. Once an applicant is approved we set up a place for them to meet the pet.

More about this rescue

Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
