My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile:  Gully is an estimated 3-year-old 12 lb black and white female chihuahua joining us from Fresno Animal Care Center. She was found as a stray and held by the finder for a few days looking for an owner but no one came. She was assessed to be shy but friendly with people and dogs.

Foster Update: Meet Gully! This special girl is excited to find her forever home. Full of spunk and energy, this girl won't leave you bored. She will gladly engage in a game of tug and chase, and she will go for hours if you let her =) With her zest for life, comes an eagerness to learn. Gully loves nothing more than clear direction from her human, as she is eager to learn her expectations and excel at her tasks (then get rewarded for it). She has been learning leash manners when out and about, and has learned the place command when at home. Gully is looking for a forever home that can continue to expand her basic obedience and help her build confidence in the outside world through leadership. Having a confident handler on leash has helped transform Gully from being fearful and reacting to passing dogs, to being able to pass them calmly and with confidence. Her forever human will need to feel comfortable to continue to advocate for her and keep up on her leash manners.

Gully does amazing in her crate and sleeps through the night soundly, as well as for spurts of time throughout the day. High-value chews are one of her favorite rewards, and she has become quite fond of antler ears or yak chews. She is making progress with her potty training; she will take care of business anytime she is out on a walk, but we are still working on learning her signals on when she needs to go out. A consistent routine will help immensely for keeping up the progress with her potty training. Gully has been fostered with another small dog, and she engages in play often. Her play style can be a bit more dominant. Gully would enjoy a canine companion that compliments her energy and play style, but she wouldn't mind being the only dog either.
