Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Katie is a member of our Have a Heart program. She has started heartworm treatments and has been living in the Rescue House at Big Barn for the last few days. She's doing real well living in a home. Now that she's started treatments, bed rest is the name of the game for Katie.

She's fine with the resident senior dog and cat and doesn't try to engage in play. She knows that potty is outside! She does not like the crate and we felt she was more stressed in there than out, she has earned free range. She's super easy to care for and never gets destructive when alone and does not have exhibit separation anxiety. If you're looking for a couch potato to watch tv with or a porch buddy to enjoy the warm weather, Katie is your gal.

Heartworm is a treatable disease and we are with you 100% of the way until Katie tests negative. ALIVE and our supporters pay for all the treatments.

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met:

You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age.

Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.

If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.

All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed.

Applicant must live within 50 miles of Chicago if interested in adopting and within 10 miles of Chicago if interested in fostering.

Allow an ALIVE representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat.

Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.

Adoption Donation Amounts:
Dogs over 6 months old: $325
Dogs under 6 months old: $400
Dogs over 7 years old: $150
Rabbits: $150
Cats: $175
If you are adopting a bonded pair, the adoption donation will be as reflected above, but as a buy one, get one free.

We require a $75 training deposit at the time of adopting a dog. You will be required to enroll and complete a training class with your new dog at one of our approved training facilities within 3 months of adoption in order for the deposit to be refunded.
