This cutie truly is a maverick! Striking out on his own (to find a cozy spot for a nap), Making strides (towards the treat in your open hand), and rebelling (against cats) at every turn! Maverick is a 5-year-old, 60-pound, Lab mix here at the shelter looking for a slow-paced and gentle environment to call home. Maverick prefers days spent relaxing on the couch or the porch in good weather. He would be the perfect companion for a low-energy household with limited traffic. Maverick will do best in a home without small children, as they tend to move a little too fast for him. If you're looking for a gentle companion who would be content snoozing in the sun and going for long drives on sunny days, Maverick is your boy! Maverick is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 to 5:00 PM!
Can't believe we got through that without a "Top Gun" reference...

We strive to ensure a safe, healthy, and loving environment that will provide temporary shelter for abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals and to find each animal a new and prosperous home.
The Babinski Foundation is a private 501c3 animal shelter located in Pequot Lakes, MN. We are a safe place to surrender dogs and cats. We also are a stray drop-off facility for stray cats and dogs.
OUR STORY
The Babinski Foundation was established in 2010 by Donald and Elizabeth Babinski owners and founders of Babinski Properties which owns multifamily housing in Minnesota, Florida and South Dakota. He and his wife Elizabeth were working tirelessly to get the animal shelter opened which was their dream, but Donald Babinski passed away August 11th, 2014 before the shelter could open. Elizabeth continued where they left off and the Foundation opened in January 2016 in Pequot Lakes, MN. Elizabeth passed away on November 13th, 2020. Donald and Elizabeth’s dream was finally realized, and Donald and Elizabeth’s surviving family and friends will continue to work hard to fulfill their mission.
