Duchess is the sweetest Australian shepherd senior. She was found as a stray, wandering the streets, and was so emaciated and lethargic that the shelter workers who found her didn’t think she would make it. Now, not only is she feeling better, but she has figured out how much she loves soft beds, people, and even playing ball.
Duchess is about 13 years old. She has limited hearing and some vision issues, but she certainly is able to communicate with her people. She loves attention and will chase a ball or toy if you toss it nearby. She spends most of the day snuggled in her bed, but she will perk up every once in a while and really likes to wander around the yard.
Duchess is completely potty trained and is fine in a crate, but she doesn’t need one. She’s very good on a leash. She walks slowly but enjoys sniffing and strolling. She’s interested in other dogs but doesn’t interact with them much.
She’d prefer a single-story home or one with just a few steps. A fenced-in yard would be perfect so she can explore outdoors safely. Her ideal forever home would be relatively quiet, yet with people around. She’s fine alone but enjoys the company. She’s very quiet and truly just wants to be loved.
Duchess is being fostered in the St. Louis area and she sure would love to spend her days with someone who can give her the love and attention she deserves.
