My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola, Amigos! My name is Mabo! I traveled all the way from beautiful Puerto Rico to find my forever family - thanks to a network of kind and generous people and rescues. I am a 35-pound, one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who would love an active family to call my own.

I can be a little shy when I first meet people or try new things. But I am also very really curious and friendly, and that helps me overcome any fear. I am, above all else, incredibly sweet. I am a world-class snuggler. But I am also playful and an amazing companion to all my dog friends, large and small.

I am potty-trained and crate-trained, and I am learning the art of walking on a leash. I'm a high energy guy, so I'd like humans who like to walk, run or hike. I'd LOVE another dog buddy to play with, and I think a confident pup in the house would help build my own confidence. I am really smart, but I'm just learning basic commands. I would love a family willing to continue my training and socialization.

I would love to see new things and go to lots of new places so I can become the pup I was meant to be. I'm handsome, playful and I have the sweetest demeanor ever!

I love toys (especially squeaky toys), playing chase, and treats! I also really love to hang out with my humans and get pets and snuggles.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
