Lightning is an older boy who LOST HIS ELDERLY OWNER very suddenly. This has been devastating for him because he was with his owner since he was a kitten. After a few weeks with his foster Mom and some great TLC, vet care and healthy food, he is ready to find a home where he can lay around, eat good food, give love and GET LOVE! Lightning is a very social and affectionate boy and purrs quite loudly when you are close. He loves to be petted and brushed and gives sweet gentle head butts. Lightning is looking for a loving home where he can retire and just lay around and be a companion and lap kitty to someone who will care and love him for the duration of his life.
Lightning is around 17 years old. His vision is significantly impaired for reasons unknown. It is not due to high blood pressure (BP is puurfect); nor does it appear to be glaucoma. We are still looking into the possibility of detached retinas. Regardless of the cause, it is likely untreatable and it doesn’t appear to bother him. He has adapted and continues to adapt quite well to new spaces. His foster Mom has found that he is quick to figure out the lay of the land if you show him where everything is immediately. Other than his eyes, he is very healthy for a cat his age. He is on no medications.
Lightning will do best in a mature home or one with older, cat-savvy children (16+). He has been around other kitties and shows no aggression. He will likely get along with other cat-friendly cats with proper introductions, but will be fine (and may prefer) to be an only kitty. He has only been around his foster Mom’s very cat-friendly dog and doesn’t really react as long as the dog doesn’t get too close or surprise him. He would likely be okat with cat-friendly dogs with slow and proper introductions.
Lightning is scheduled for a dental appointment and His FUTURE VETTING will be sponsored.
Lightning was born approximately January 22, 2007, and his adoption fee is $125, or adopt two and the second is half off. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and deworming, is microchipped, and tested negative for feline leukemia virus. Come see this sweet darling at our adoption center this weekend!
