Interview
This helps Feline Matchmakers with pet care costs.
Minda was surrendered by her owner to Feline Matchmakers because she deficated outside the box (but pees IN the box.) Her ultrasound revealed that she has MILD IBD, Irritable Bowel Disease. She was teaming with an intestinal parasite, which is now treated and gone. She is feeling much better now but she still poops outside of a litter box most of the time. We have tried medications, acupuncture and herbal remedies and now have her on a high protein, no carb diet. We don't know if this will solve the problem, but we are out of resources to investigate further. Minda is now comfortable to go outside for short periods of time and we our hope is that she will do her litter box duties while she is outside.
Minda will require a special adopter that can look past her pooping issues. She has good, firm stools, so it isn't hard to clean up. She loves hanging out in our catio, so a dedicated screened in porch with several litter boxes and an easy to clean floor would be ideal. She is otherwise such a happy and healthy girl, with lots of fun loving to give. She can also be crated once her pooping schedule is known, something we have successfully tried in the past.
Minda will need to remain an indoor kitty and have plenty of stimulation like a cat tree, tall scratching post and interactive activities. She will need grooming as often as possible, and enjoys it when she's in the mood.
All Feline Matchmakers cats are tested, spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccinations. For those over 21 in the Wilmington, NC area, adoption applications are taken at felinematchmakers.org
