My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"I feel the most important thing right now is for Sammie to feel safe and loved because it seems like she came from a place in which she did not feel safe or nurtured. And that has been heartbreaking." - foster mom

Ah if 3 Year Old Samantha doesn't win you over with her incredibly good looks, she'll do it with her endearing personality, that's just longing to be someone's everything. Samantha and a couple of other adoptable Labradoodles were all rescued from the same property in Kentucky with their fur in terrible, matted condition. It seems they spent time around people, but we are unsure under what terms as they are very skittish and unfamiliar with most things.

Sam is a sweetheart and her foster mom says she enjoys snuggling up on the couch, getting lots of pets, and playing with other pups outside. She is also doing great with potty training! While timid at first, appreciation and affection from people goes a really long way into winning Sam over! She's still making herself at home in a big city, and working on getting used to new spaces and loud noises, but she is growing more and more confident and will surely continue to blossom in her forever home! Samantha is looking for a patient, confident home that will help her continue to transform into the playful pup we know is in there, she would also really love having a doggie playmate!

Samantha is 50lbs, spayed, vetted and microchipped. Apply to adopt Samantha at rescuecity.nyc/adopt

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
