My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

After being at the shelter for months and shutting down, Ozzy (approx 2-3 years) made his way to his Ewenity foster home and is thriving.

Foster mom's update: He has transformed into a goofy, happy-go-lucky dog that just wants to play and be loved on. He lives with three female dogs and while he wishes that all of them would play with him only one does. He's very good at feeding time and stays away from the other dog's bowls . He hasn't shown any food aggression or guarding at all. He let's me pick up his bowl and takes treats gently . He loves all kinds of toys but will drop everything to play with a water hose! He is a shoe stealer (we're working on that) but he doesn't chew them. I found that if I say with a calm firm voice, Ozzy no. Sit. That's not a toy he will drop what he has . Otherwise he's always up for a game of keep away LOL He does good with my chickens. He will follow them but even if they fly in his face he never goes after them. He does not like to be led by holding his collar but he walks great on a leash. He knows Sit Stay lie down and gives his paw. He has a pretty good recall unless he's distracted by something and we are working on improving that too. He's high energy but settles down well in the house after playing. He loves to snuggle and lay right next to your side or at your feet. He still needs to learn that cats are not to be chased, but i think it will be easy because he easily learned with consistency that my chickens are off limits. Pictures do not do this handsome boy justice. He is absolutely gorgeous! He's very athletic and smart. I think he would excel in agility or dock diving, but would also be happy with a good playmate.
He is doing much better on his recall and knows what "in the house" means.
Heh as been to Lowes and many other dog friendly places and does great. He met a tiny dog and Tried to play with her.
Think you can be Ozzy's happily ever after? Apply today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We have a virtual home-check process (don't forget to submit photos of the exterior of your home!) Adoption fees range depending on the age of the dog. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Since all rescue dogs live in foster homes, there is no single facility to meet pups.

You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog after you have an approved app on file. Apps can be filled out at ewenityfarm.org

More about this rescue

We are a small, foster-based rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one-on-one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.

It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
