My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet LOUISA! She:
Is a Dachshund/Rat terrier female
Is 1 yrs old
Weighs 13.5 pounds
Is good with other dogs
Is good with children
Is good with cats
Is potty trained
Rides well in the car
Is high energy
About:

Full of sunshine and endless wiggles, Louisa is a smiley girl that easily spreads joy wherever she goes. Despite her initial shyness, she is inquisitive and can be quite the burst of energy that you can’t help but match. She loves to play with other dogs and can be quite the character – you could spend all morning to watch her have a blast. She would do well in a household with another kindred pup to play with and help get those extra wiggles out. Her size makes her especially manageable no matter the type of household and is currently mastering the art of harness walking. Along with her inclination for cuddles and attention, she is sure to bring someone daily giggles and kisses. Bring effortless jubilation and companionship to your home with Louisa!

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
