My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet LIZZY! She:
• Is a female jack russell terrier mix
• Is 7 years old
• Weighs 21 pounds
• Is good with other dogs
• Appears to be potty trained
• Loads well in the car
• Walks nicely on a leash
• Is medium energy

When you’re not busy, leave it to Lizzy to be the perfect couch companion. Lizzy doesn't play much, but she loves to lean against you for pets and pampering. If you get distracted, she might nudge you in the hand to remind you of your priorities! She does like to play fetch occasionally and walks around the neighborhood. A quintessential Jack Russell Terrier, Lizzy is deeply loyal to her favorite family member, shadowing them throughout the house with quiet dedication. But she can demonstrate her independence when you’re away. Lizzy’s will thrive as a solo pup and the sole receiver of all the affection. She’s the best friend you’ve always wanted and will be by your side happily as you take on the everyday!

Lizzy is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
