Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** If you are interested in adopting Walter, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **
There's nothing like sweet puppy energy and silliness! They make us smile and laugh so easily with their silly wiggly bodies! After a long day of work or just life in general, watching your puppy run and skid across the floor will always put a smile on your face.
Walter is believed to be a Dachshund / Beagle mix. At just 4 months old and 9 lbs (estimated to be about 25 lbs full grown), he is a perfect size to hike the Colorado trails and then at day's end, snuggle close all night long.
Walter was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Houston, TX, where he found himself stuck in a tiny, scary kennel after being relinquished with his littermate.
From Walter’s foster:
“Walter is the best puppy ever!! He’s so fun and wiggly and sweet. He loves the kids and lets them hold/handle him. He is truly the best!!”
Since Walter is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
Walter is up to date on his shots, although will still require a few more as he gets a bit older, before it is safe to go out on public ground. He has yet to be neutered. We cover the cost of his neuter at our approved Vet Clinic. Neuter is required to be done before he turns 1 year old, and required to finalize any adoption.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
