My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

3 y/o Lewis is a small, lemon beagle who came from a hoarding situation in Arkansas. He has coat that is so soft, you would think he was half rabbit!

Lewis’s house manners are pretty good with the use of a dog door. He still will mark, but that is happening less often and should stop completely. He was just neutered last week.

Lewis gets along with his pack mates and enjoys a good chase after the sighting of a squirrel. Lewis is not a full-time player. He enjoys time alone to explore on his own. He would be fine as an only dog. He comes when called….unless he is busy with beagle business!

Lewis is a cuddler. He enjoys snuggling close to you while watching TV. He is great with kids and will be in their laps in a flash! Lewis will be a great addition to your family. Apply today!

1.
Submit Application

The first step in our adoption process is the completion of our on-line application to adopt. The application can be found on our website.

2.
Approve Application

Go to our website www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org and click on the link "About Adoption." After receiving your application, we will contact you.

3.
Home Check

Once your application is approved, a volunteer will bring the beagle to your home to meet your family and pets, and approve the adoption..

4.
Meet the Pet

You are invited to attend our monthly meet and greets without completing an application, but no adoption can take place before applying.

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is for interested parties to complete the on-line adoption application found on our website. We require an adoption fee ($300 for purebred beagles and coon hounds; $250 for mixes; $200 for special needs or seniors 8 years +; and $350 for pups age 8 mo. or younger) and an adoption contract. ALL dogs will be vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered before adoption!

We typically have meet & greet events on the second Sunday of each month, from noon to 3:00 p.m. and will always bring several of the rescued beagles to that event, so look up the location of the month on our website, and come meet some adorable beagles! We also periodically hold special activities, and occasionally attend Houston-area adoption events which will be listed on our "events" section of our website. Our quarterly newsletter is published on our website at www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org
