Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Roxie, who used to be called Aquene:
"Fostering Aquene has been a win-win for all of us! Aquene has such an affable personality, has taken well to our routines (including being crated all day while we are away teaching middle school), is so eager to please, gets along well with our dogs and meets them at their energy level (which is mostly low-medium), and walks beautifully on a leash. It's a wonder she hasn't been snatched up for adoption yet! Aquene would be a wonderful companion to a family. She is a trusting, affectionate, happy-go-lucky girl."
When she attended playgroups at MAS, she was friendly and social, and loved hanging out with the staff too.
A volunteer took Aquene on a foster field trip, and here's how she did:
"Aquene is a very loving dog. She loved to give lots of licky kisses and hugs. She got a lot of comfort from leaning against me, especially while we were driving. She was very curious and a bit nervous about other dogs and the waterbirds but only ever barked at a large heron when it got too close. I think she could get along with another dog at home once she had some time to get to know them. She was extraordinarily patient, even when I would stop for several minutes to watch the birds. She would only nudge my hand to ask if we could keep going. She also kept to my slow walking pace, though I could tell she wanted to have a bit more running. But she never pulled strongly. She let me take the lead on the walk. She is gentle, a bit shy, and very cuddly. All in all, a wonderful girl!"
A volunteer shared their experience with this heartworm-negative cutie, saying, "Aquene was a bit shy at first, but she's a calm girl. She needs a bit of training to learn not to jump up on people; she's probably just excited to be out! Aquene wasn't interested in toys, and with no other dogs around, we couldn't gauge her behavior with them."
Aquene attended playgroup on 3/7/24. She was timid at first but tolerated other dogs' greetings. She soon opened up to being friendly and social with a playful attitude. She was often submissive in her interactions and was the bestest girl!
Auqene attended playgroup on 3/9/24. She was friendly and social. She was playful but was sometimes unsure how to engage in play.
Aquene attended playgroup 3/12/24. She was friendly and social and loved being with people. She tolerated other dogs well and was good at greeting new dogs in the group
Aquene attended playgroup on 3/13/24. She was affectionate, social, and playful, with a push/pull playstyle.
Aquene attended playgroup 3/18/24. She was friendly and social with a playful attitude. She was tolerant throughout her interactions and had lots of fun zoomies in the yard. She easily made friends with all dogs and was loved by all
Aquene attended playgroup 3/20/24. She was tolerant of other dogs, but mostly stayed to herself.
Aquene attended playgroup 3/21/24. She was friendly and social with a playful attitude
