My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Sally is an estimated 7-month-old female shepherd/herding breed mix from Roswell New Mexico. She has been friendly and playful in temp foster care and will be arriving to DGS on Feb 23. More info to come as we get to know her.

Foster Update:  Sally is the sweetest snuggle bug! She bonds quickly to her people and will not want to leave their side. She's a chill pup who is happy to lounge on her bed while you work from home, or entertain herself with a pile of toys. She doesn't like to be away from her humans and prefers to spend as much time with them as possible.  Sally is a fast learner and listens well. She is shy around new people and experiences, but enjoys meeting new dogs, and loves playing.  She sleeps well in her crate and with some adjustment time and training, now gets on well with our resident dog and cat. She walks well on leash, especially with reminders and treat encouragement. She'd make a great running companion. We are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, dog experience (herding breed experience a plus). Fitting of her breed, she does have some interest in squirrels and bunnies in the neighborhood but takes redirection well. She is currently living in a home with a cat so we will consider a home with dog savvy cats. We are not considering apartments for her at this time.

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
