My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Nugget. While I'm cute and chubby now, I did not have such a good start in life. I was found roaming the streets in Hillsborough County when I was 4 months old, weighing only 15 pounds, almost no hair on my back, and being so weak, that my back legs couldn't stand up straight. I could barely walk. Thanks to Animal Services and then BDRR, I've gotten my weight on, my hair has grown back, my legs have some muscle to them, and not only can I walk, but I can run and chase my other foster brothers and sisters when I play outside! Playing with my 1 YO foster sister is my favorite thing, but I love being around all other dogs. I have not been around a cat yet, but my foster Mom thinks while I would be curious and want to play, that I could adjust and not harm one. I am now about 10-11 months old. I am thought to be a Bull Terrier mix, but my foster Mom is stumped. She might even do a DNA test on me just so she gets a better idea. Regardless of what breed I am, she says that I am one of the sweetest pups that she's ever fostered. I am housetrained and crate trained. I am walking well on a leash, but still need some training. Like all puppies, I can't be left unattended or I may grab something I'm not supposed to. But I love my Nylabones and am a good chewer on them and my other toys! I have received all of my necessary vaccinations, am neutered, and microchipped, and ready to find a home of my own. I would ideally go to a home with another dog to play with, but I could be an only dog as long as I got frequent play dates and visits to the dog park. I am very social! I love my people, but every once in a while can be shy with strangers. But even then, once they pet me and tell me how adorable I am (because how could they not?), I warm right up and give them kisses. Although I am fostered in Sarasota, there is a possibility that I can be transported for a meet and greet, so don't let distance deter you from wanting to meet me! If you would like to meet me, please contact my foster Mom at melanie.lehmann@bdrr.org and she can answer any questions you may have. If you can complete an adoption application first, that is always helpful so that she can ask you questions too! To do that, please go to http://bdrr.org/adoption-form.
