Meet Tilly! Tilly has been with us a for just a few weeks and what a dandy she is! Her owner surrendered her and we are happy to have her! She lives in kitty city and has a serene outlook on life. About a year old, this girl LOVES her back rubbed and arches her back with every pet she gets. Tilly can be held and carried, and of course, loves laps and cuddle time. Tilly is very quiet and enjoys the sunshine and chill time...in fact, she could be named Chilly Tilly! She is beautiful, very sweet and has THE cutest black smudge on her little pink nose. She is dreaming of a calm family or a senior to spend her days with. She If you are looking for a calm buddy to relax with, Tilly is a perfect choice!

Their adoption process

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Most cats roam free in cat rooms. Dogs are in pens, but we are happy to get them out for a meet and greet with you and your other pets

2.
Submit Application

In most cases, applications are reviewed immediately.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

If your application is approved immediately, you can fill out the adoption contract right away.

4.
Pay Fee

Adoption fees are $100 for cats, and $175-220 for dogs. Includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip! $12 for tag if Macoupin resident.

5.
Take the Pet Home

If dogs/cats are spayed/neutered, they can go home with you same day. If not, arrangements will be made.

Additional adoption info

Our stray animals are held 10 days to see if the owner will claim them. If no one claims the animal, the animal is put up for adoption. We also accept owner surrendered animals (for a fee) if space allows. Also...Due to Illinois state law, no animals can be adopted without being fixed first. So, if the pet you select is spayed/neutered, you can take it home right away. If not, adoption will be finalized after our next spay/neuter clinic.

We are a rural county animal control facility, located about 1 hour from both St. Louis, MO and Springfield, IL. Unfortunately, we are almost always at full capacity---meaning 30+ dogs and even more cats. With less than 46,000 people in our entire county, we welcome out-of-town adopters.

We also welcome relationships with rescues who are willing to take transfers. We need you!
