My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gravy was a Thanksgiving puppy, so he and his sibling, (and mama) got Thanksgiving food themed names. Gravy is a typical puppy and likes to explore and chew on things and likes lots of attention. He is a good little fellow learning how to navigate the world. He and his littermate came into the world with not the best circumstances and have had a few challenges since birth, but he's doing well, growing and is active and playful like all puppies. We are looking forward to finding Gravy the best forever home.
Gravy is an unknown breed mix and guesses about his full grown weigh are that he will be around the size of his mom, so somewhere between 12-14#. He is scheduled for his neuter in April. He is doing well on his heeartworm and flea prevention, he is vaccinated and has been de-wormed. Gravy's adoption fee is $400.

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($250 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.
