Simba Simba Simba! Like a tiny lion he has a huge presence, in a little bitty package. Simba is what many people think of when they picture a Chihuahua. He is small with a little round head and a short nose. He does have longer legs, but he is so small at just about 3.5#. Simba has a condition common to small dogs, he has knee joints that are "loose". So he looks like a cowboy that got off a horse after a long ride. Simba doesn't often try to jump on or off of furniture but this isn't an activity that should be encouraged, as it could result in harm to him. He likes to go outdoors and is trained to potty outdoors, but he will use potty pads somewhat reliably, (pets sometimes miss). He is small, but he doesn't realize it. He needs to be supervised outdoors as he woud be at risk to prey birds or other animals. He is a great companion for an experienced chihuahua owner and he is fine with other friendly pets.
Simba had a recent dental cleaning, he is vaccinated, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $500. If you think Simba would be the pet for you, submit an application and once approved, a meeting will be set up!

Additional adoption info
**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($250 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.

More about this rescue
Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.
